Hi Grimes, can you tell me what the “Default HDR” mod does? Thanks for making the Spring Mod for ATS. I have been using the one you did for ETS2 in that game. All your mods have been game changers. I can’t see myself playing either of the SCS games without your seasonal mods in the Active Mods list. Your mods even improve the beautiful map mods that are game changers in and of themselves.

Thanks Patrick. I’m quite surprised but I get asked this question a lot, perhaps I need to rename the addon or provide a strap line of info. The HDR is basically the glare you get in the game, for me the default is too much, it’s rather like the glare from a camera rather than visually, it especially gives white objects this weird glowing effect. You can of course turn of HDR completely in the settings but IMO this goes too far the other way and makes the lighting look too flat. The middle ground is to reduce the HDR, so a while back I made the decision to apply this in all my season mods as you’ll see under ‘Key Features’, but obviously some prefer how it is normally so this is why I provided the addon.

Hey Grimes, I don’t know if you have seen the new Sierra Nevada map mod, it is made by the guys who made Mexico Extremo. It is the best map I have ever seen for ATS. I didn’t think that map could get any better UNTIL I drove on it with your new Spring Graphics/Weather mod. It makes the map so much prettier so congrats for doing the seemingly impossible.

Hay @grimesmods these are really great, but what if you put all seasons together in one mod and then automatically apply when seasons are in real life. Just thought I’d throw that out there in case you ever get bored.

Yes I’m in the process of updating my mods, although I’m still working on ETS2 mods at the moment so it will take a while.

This mod is for ATS only, lightining can happen in one of the rain profiles.

Speaking of rain, while I was waiting for the 1.40 updates for your weather/graphics mods, I started using a mod called Realistic Rain v3.9.2 and it is a fantastic improvement on SCSs depiction of rain in the game. I am hoping that I can continue using that mod, until we come to Winter, when rain takes a back seat to the Frosty Mod’s snow, and no thunder sound. The thunder in the Realistic Rain mod is ‘to die for’, but I do understand why thunder has to go away in Frosty, because it’s not realistic to have thunder in Winter.

Hey Grimes! Just have two questions, are the weather mods compatible with the realistic rain mod by darkcaptain and the next question, is what would you say is the most realistic rain probability setting for each season?

I think Realistic Rain is compatible with spring, summer, the autumn mods and Mild Winter but not Frosty, personally I just leave the rain probability at default but for more realism probably would be better to increase it a bit for the non summer mods.

Just have another follow up question. I was using the Spring mod on ATS and the skies at night werent as dark as they could be, so I was just wondering if thats part of the mod or its my game thats being weird, either way it doesnt bother me that much, I was just wondering.

There are different night time sky textures so it depends which one is chosen by the game, a cloudy night texture will be brighter than a clear night sky texture.
